During the latest court hearing in Kyiv on March 2, 2026, Ihor Kolomoiskyi showed journalists the book "Black Raven" by Vasyl Shklyar. The businessman, who is currently in custody, raised the historical novel above his head to make it more visible to the cameras.

In a brief dialogue with those present, Kolomoiskyi jokingly mentioned the number of words in the book, stating: «20 pages — 33 words». When asked if it was a new book, he replied affirmatively and suggested verifying his claim about the word count.

The choice of the book «Black Raven. Remnant», which tells the story of Ukrainian insurgents of Kholodny Yar fighting against Soviet occupation, is seen by many as a symbolic gesture by the businessman in the context of his ongoing trial. Currently, Kolomoiskyi remains in custody on charges of fraud and property laundering.
