10.5 years in prison and full confiscation: HACC Appeals Court upholds verdict against former Energomerezha head Dmytro Kryuchkov

The Appellate Chamber of the HACC upheld the verdict in the case of former head of PrJSC “HC “Energomerezha”” and ex-MP Dmytro Kryuchkov. He still faces 10.5 years of imprisonment with confiscation of all his property.

The appellate court found Kryuchkov guilty under part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. At the same time, the court revised the crediting of pre-trial detention periods. The following periods will be credited toward the sentence: from April 14 to May 17, 2018, and from April 15 to 22, 2019.

The recalculation will be carried out according to the formula “one day of pre-trial detention for two days of imprisonment.” The actual term of the sentence will begin from the moment of the former MP’s detention.

On February 15, 2024, Kryuchkov crossed the state border and has not returned to Ukraine since. According to available information, he may be in Switzerland or Monaco, while his lawyer claims that the defendant is undergoing treatment abroad.

Earlier, in the case of embezzlement of funds from “Cherkasyoblenergo” and “Zaporizhzhyaoblenergo,” Kryuchkov was sentenced to 15 years in prison. This proceeding is currently at the stage of appellate review.
