Smuggling to Poland for $3,200: Scheme for illegal exit of conscripts uncovered in Kharkiv
In the Kharkiv region, law enforcement officers detained a 21-year-old resident of Kharkiv suspected of organizing the illegal departure abroad of men liable for military service.
This was reported by the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, at the beginning of June the man offered an acquaintance assistance in leaving Ukraine outside official border checkpoints.
During the meeting, he proposed several options: fictitious employment, illegal registration of disability, or transportation across the border by car.
The cost of such services ranged from 3,200 to 5,000 US dollars. Eventually, the parties agreed on transportation to Poland by car for 3,200 US dollars.
After receiving the agreed sum, on 7 June law enforcement officers detained the suspect in Kharkiv.
The man was notified of suspicion under Part 3, Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — organizing the illegal crossing of persons across the state border of Ukraine for profit.
The issue of selecting a preventive measure for him is currently being decided.
