Chernihiv Court of Appeal upheld the verdict against former court secretary Chernobay: she will serve 10 years in prison

The Chernihiv Court of Appeal upheld the sentence of former court session secretary of the Desniansky District Court of Chernihiv, Nataliya Chernobay. She will continue to serve 10 years in prison for aiding the aggressor state and justifying Russian aggression.

Recall that Chernobay became known after a video recorded at the Chernihiv cemetery near the graves of Ukrainian soldiers. In it, she rejoiced at the increase in the number of burials and stated that she was waiting for Russia’s victory.

In the appeal, the convicted woman asked to mitigate the punishment to 5 years. She assured that she did not want to harm the state, sincerely repented, cooperated with the investigation, no longer communicates with members of the pro-Russian group “Sisters” and even stated that she would like to go serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It would be interesting to see what she would do there.

Chernobay also explained that on the day of recording the resonant video, she was at the cemetery due to the anniversary of her mother’s death and came to visit her grave. However, these arguments did not convince the court. The appellate instance upheld the sentence without changes.

Even during the consideration of the case in the first instance, Chernobay explained the pro-Russian messages, manicure in the colors of the Russian flag, and the coat of arms of the RF on her phone with the desire to “calm her friends from Russia” and prove to them that Ukrainians “do not hate Russians.” And to the question of who started the Russian-Ukrainian war, she was unable to give a direct answer.
