Fuel problems in Crimea began after a series of Ukrainian strikes on Russian logistics and fuel infrastructure. The occupation authorities had to postpone the issuance of gasoline by coupons.

As the agency notes, the statement by the so-called governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, about the temporary impossibility of realizing fuel coupons coincided with comments from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He emphasized that Kyiv’s ongoing campaign against energy facilities in Russia and the annexed territories has proven its effectiveness.

Reuters recalls that Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014, introduced fuel rationing last month due to its acute shortage on the peninsula.

"Unfortunately, the tankers were unable to reach the city this evening," Razvozhayev wrote on Telegram. He clarified that on Thursday, priority refueling will be given to public transport, municipal services, emergency and government vehicles.

"I appeal to everyone: there is no point in queuing at gas stations tomorrow," he noted late on Wednesday evening, adding that existing fuel coupons will be canceled and new ones will be issued on Thursday.

Later, Razvozhayev reported that over two dozen Ukrainian drones were shot down in the early hours of Thursday during a new attack on Sevastopol — the second largest city on the peninsula and the base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

It is noted that the fuel shortage arose against the backdrop of Ukraine intensifying strikes with drones and medium- and long-range missiles on Russian industrial facilities, which forced Russia to reduce oil production.

"In recent months, we are especially grateful for the medium-range strikes: Russian military logistics throughout the depth of the temporarily occupied territory is now within the reach of Ukrainian drones," Zelenskyy said in his evening address.
