Scandal in the "Skelya" regiment: the serviceman who beat the chaplain and the lieutenant colonel was placed in custody
In Kyiv, the court has chosen a preventive measure for a serviceman accused of committing two separate acts of violence against his fellow servicemen.
This is reported by the State Bureau of Investigations.
The Pechersk District Court of the capital ruled to place the suspect in custody until September 7, 2026, with no right to post bail. The serviceman is charged with violating statutory rules of conduct, resulting in moderate injuries, and with using violence against a superior under martial law.
According to investigators, the first incident occurred in May 2025 near a settlement in the Izium district of Kharkiv region. A conflict arose between members of different units while resolving issues related to the placement of equipment and personnel after a combat mission.
A military chaplain attempted to intervene to stop the quarrel and urged that the dispute be resolved through the chain of command. In response, the suspect punched him several times in the face, resulting in the victim being hospitalized with a jaw fracture and a concussion.
The next incident was recorded in June 2025 in the town of Barvinkove. According to law enforcement, the suspect attacked a lieutenant colonel, knocked him to the ground, and struck him with hands and feet in the head and torso area, causing the officer to suffer a fractured rib.
The agency added that after his detention, the man was notified of suspicion, and the maximum penalty under the cited articles may reach up to 10 years of imprisonment.
