Wife of former head of State Fisheries Agency Tkachov increased her income from UAH 650,000 to UAH 4 million over three years: anti-corruption activists checking family accounts
Ukrainian banking institutions have received requests from the anti-corruption agency to search for accounts and verify financial transactions of former head of the State Fisheries Agency department in Dnipropetrovsk region Albert Tkachov and his close relatives.
This is reported by media outlets citing the relevant request from law enforcement.
The anti-corruption agency requires banks to provide detailed information on the existence of accounts, balances, transactions carried out, purpose of payments, and full data on counterparties of Albert Tkachov and members of his family. In addition, the verification concerns balances of securities and movements of other assets on the capital market.
In 2025, Albert Tkachov held the position of head of the department of the State Agency for the Development of Reclamation, Fisheries and Food Programs in Dnipropetrovsk region. According to his 2025 declaration, the family owns a residential house and a land plot. At the same time, over the two years between the reporting periods, the family purchased a Toyota car manufactured in 2023, while the official’s wife’s income increased significantly: if three years ago she earned 650 thousand hryvnias per year, she now reported income at the level of 4 million hryvnias.
It should be recalled that in 2016 Albert Tkachov was already involved in a high-profile scandal related to a “hunt” conducted by fish inspectors and security forces, during which people were injured. That incident led to the dismissal of the then head of the regional department Oleksandr Zhuk, while Tkachov himself resigned from his position voluntarily.
It is also reported that a similar request from anti-corruption officials regarding the search for bank accounts and verification of transactions had previously been sent concerning former head of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine Yuriy Shchyhol, who led the agency in 2020–2023.
