Russia is forming battalions from Ukrainian prisoners of war, — SSU

The Security Service of Ukraine has confirmed information about Russia’s creation of battalions from Ukrainian prisoners of war. The Ukrainian side is monitoring and recording such cases.

This was stated during a press conference by Andriy Pasternak, head of the Joint Center under the SSU for coordinating the search and release of prisoners of war and persons illegally deprived of liberty as a result of aggression against Ukraine.

Responding to a question about information on Russia’s implementation of a plan to form battalions from Ukrainian prisoners of war, Pasternak stated that Ukrainian intelligence services possess relevant data.

«We are aware of such battalions. Together with our colleagues from the intelligence directorate, foreign intelligence, and military intelligence, we are monitoring and recording this. Such facts exist», he said.
