In Kyiv region, about 20 "Petal" mines were found in a cornfield

In a cornfield near the village of Hoholiv in Brovary district, Kyiv region, about 20 anti-personnel mines of the "Pelyostka" type and a cassette were discovered. Some of the mines found in the field had red coloring, which complicates their identification by ordinary people. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties or damage.

The dangerous find was reported in the "Tribuna - Brovary" group.

Specialists visited the site, confirmed the type of ammunition, and submitted a request for its removal by the pyrotechnic unit. The authors of the message emphasized that the danger concerns not only Hoholiv but the entire Brovary district.

"Recently, enemy UAV flights over the district have become more frequent, and they are capable of dropping dangerous objects. Therefore, watch your step carefully, especially in fields, forest belts, roadsides, and open areas," the message states.

Residents are warned not to approach suspicious objects or touch them, but to immediately call 101 or 102.

Petal-type mines belong to anti-personnel munitions that are dropped from the air and can detonate from the slightest touch or even air movement. Their camouflage coloring — green or, in this case, red — makes them easy to mistake for trash or a children’s toy, so passersby often fail to recognize the threat in time.

That is why experts insist on immediately calling pyrotechnicians instead of attempting to check or remove the suspicious object themselves. Even trained sappers handle such finds with extreme caution, as the ammunition can remain sensitive for years.
