In Rivne, an explosion in the police building occurred during the work of explosives technicians: 1 killed and 3 wounded

In Rivne, an explosion occurred on the premises of the district police department while employees of the explosive ordnance disposal service were working. As a result of the incident, 1 police officer was killed and 3 other law enforcement officers were injured.

This was reported by local media and the police of Rivne region.

According to preliminary information, the explosion was caused by careless handling of an explosive device. The version of a terrorist act is not currently being considered.

The explosion did not occur directly inside the district police department building, but in the explosive ordnance disposal service located in the same administrative building.

According to the police, the explosion occurred around 15:30 while the explosive technicians were performing their official duties. The State Bureau of Investigation has opened a pre-trial investigation under Article 264 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances and causes of the explosion.
