"Are you out of your mind?": Kyiv police launch investigation into rude treatment of man during notification
A scandal erupted in Kyiv over the conduct of a law enforcement officer during notification operations. The police officer spoke rudely to the man, demanded his documents, and physically forced him toward the official bus.
The video of the incident spread on social media. The footage shows the officer, together with representatives of a TRC notification group, interacting with a Kyiv resident who was stopped while riding an electric scooter. The incident reportedly occurred on Novokostiantynivska Street in the Podilskyi district of the capital.
In the recording, the police officer holds the man by the arm while holding handcuffs in his other hand. At the same time, one of the TRC representatives pulls the Kyiv resident toward the official bus.
«Why are you talking like that, buddy? Speak more simply. Are you, fuck, out of your mind? Did you get it or not, smartass, fuck? Listen, officer, fuck, show your documents faster — and get the fuck out of here», the officer said.
It later emerged that the man had a military deferment.
After the Kyiv resident was released, the officer stopped him again. The policeman suspected that the man might have been secretly recording the incident and demanded to see the photo gallery on his phone.
However, the video was being recorded on the man’s smart glasses, so checking the phone would not have given the officer access to the recording.
Kyiv police stated that they discovered the video while monitoring social media and subsequently launched an internal investigation into the officer’s actions.
The police emphasized that rude and disrespectful communication with citizens is unacceptable and contradicts the principles of professional police conduct.
It was also reported that the situation has been taken under control by the Temporary Investigative Commission. The full video of the incident continues to circulate in Kyiv Telegram channels.
