In Odesa, a TRC employee was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment for kidnapping and torturing a man during mobilization.
According to the court, on May 2, four TRC servicemen, without police involvement, began pursuing the man without establishing his identity or the existence of legal grounds for detention. The man ran into the building entrance and grabbed the metal handrails, but he was forcibly pulled away, tear gas was used against him, and he was shoved into a service Renault Master.
On the way to the TRC, the man was beaten on the torso; after the gas was used, he was choking and begged for the violence to stop. The court qualified the convicted man’s actions as torture, unlawful deprivation of liberty, and kidnapping. He admitted guilt and reached an agreement with the prosecutor’s office.
As a result, he was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment and banned for three years from holding positions in the TRC related to mobilization.
