Near Kyiv, a base of the large Russian drug syndicate "Khimprom" was busted

In the Makariv district of the Kyiv region, on Wednesday, July 24, a drug laboratory belonging to a criminal group, which is a branch of the Russian drug syndicate "Khimprom," was discovered.

This was reported by the Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko, who is on vacation.

"In March, the SSU’s ’K’ and the GPU detained a group of drug traffickers with a daily turnover of 20 thousand doses. As a result of covert investigative actions (NSSO) against this gang, a drug laboratory was uncovered today in the Makariv district of the Kyiv region," Lutsenko wrote on Facebook.

It should be recalled that the March crackdown on the Ukrainian branch of "Khimprom" was called an unprecedented operation in the country’s history by the GPU and SSU.

This organization had been operating on the territory of Ukraine at least since 2014. The drugs, mainly synthetic, were sold for cryptocurrency. The proceeds were laundered through construction, trade, and the restaurant business, among other means. According to preliminary estimates, the annual turnover of this criminal organization amounted to tens of millions of dollars.

In March, about 20 members of the upper echelon of the criminal group were detained, but more than a thousand people were involved in illegal activities. A small number of organizers managed to flee abroad.
