The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, has launched an audit of the Defence Forces and identified thousands of soldiers who have never been in combat. Some brigades have been on the front line for two years without rotation, while there are units that have never been to the front at all.
This was stated by MP David Arakhamia on the air of the Topic with Natalya Moseychuk programme.
"For two years in a row, it has been said that there are brigades that have been at war for two years without rotations. And there are units that have never been to the frontline at all. The army is 900,000 strong, 300,000 are conditionally fighting without rotations. So where are the 600,000?" said Arakhamia.
According to him, a certain number of soldiers are working to provide for the soldiers on the front line. However, the audit found that a significant number of servicemen are seconded to the General Staff but can take part in combat operations.
"Conditionally, we have already found 8,000 people who are simply seconded to the General Staff and did not fight," said the MP.
Arakhamia noted that they have received orders to train and will be sent to reinforce combat brigades on the frontline.
"I believe that the number (of soldiers who have not been at the front since the beginning of the invasion - ed.) will be much higher," he added.
