Social networks write that the bombs are equipped with a FAB-250 warhead, a Comet satellite signal receiver for resistance to interference, a system of ailerons and rudders in the tail, as well as a fuel tank and an outboard turbojet engine.
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation used guided aerial bombs weighing 250 kg (FAB-250) with a new type of universal planning module for unguided aerial bombs on the territory of Ukraine. The corresponding photos are published by the Telegram channel “Colonel General Staff”, the caption of which indicates that it is run by an officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to an anonymous military official, these bombs are equipped with a FAB-250 warhead, a Comet satellite signal receiver for immunity to interference, an aileron and rudder system in the tail, as well as a fuel tank and an outboard turbojet engine.
The rocket’s production date is February 2, 2024.
At the same time, the military man noted that the abbreviation UMPB is indicated on the missile module, and suggested that the letter “B” in it means loitering.
Russian military observer Kyrylo Fedorov suggested that we are talking about a module like the UMPC (unified planning and correction module), which the Russian Armed Forces install on cluster bombs to increase their flight range. According to him, including an engine in the control module of an aerial bomb significantly increases its launch range. This allows you to either significantly expand the radius of destruction of targets behind the front line, or provide the bomber with a safer distance from the air defence zone.
