Rishi Sunak details British aid package for Ukraine

The UK will send Ukraine a new package of military aid. The £500 million package will include 400 pieces of various military equipment, four million rounds of ammunition, air defence elements and Storm Shadow missiles.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced this in Warsaw. According to him, this is a record-breaking extensive aid package from London. At the latest exchange rate, it is equal to 24.6 billion UAH, or 622.2 million US dollars.

"We are moving forward. We will provide Ukraine with an additional half a billion pounds, thus reaching three billion pounds of support this year. We will provide them with a record large package of assistance: 400 pieces of equipment, 4 million rounds of ammunition, air defense elements and Storm Shadow missiles," he said British Prime Minister during a briefing with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

According to Sunak, increasing spending on support for Ukraine will allow Kyiv to be supported in different ways so that security guarantees go hand in hand with guarantees of long-term financial support.

The British Prime Minister especially emphasized that the Russian dictator “wants to drag the West into a world in which brutal force, and not democratic elections, shapes the borders.” And if he wins in Ukraine, Putin will not stop, but will move on.

Sunak also said that the UK will increase budget spending on defense to 2.5% of GDP by 2030.
