Ukraine plans to launch the first state register of territories contaminated with explosive objects.
The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine reports this.
It was noted that the relevant website will be administered by the State Emergency Service, and the Center for Humanitarian Demining will be responsible for the technical part.
Information from various sources will be added to the register. In particular, the register will include the results of non-technical land surveys, information from mine action operators, data on surveys and land clearance. It will also include information about sites that received local tax incentives due to pollution and the results of surveys conducted using satellite imagery and scanning tools. The register will cover the entire territory affected by hostilities.
It is reported that the register will be operational after it is put into operation by the State Emergency Service.
It will allow you to monitor the process of demining territories in real time and plan further work.
“The creation of the register is an important step in the field of humanitarian demining. Its launch will automate and speed up a number of processes. For example, with the help of the register, we will be able to monitor the status of demining areas in almost real time and effectively plan further demining work. Farmers will receive extracts on the status" their lands: whether they are contaminated or cleared. Local authorities are to monitor the condition of agricultural land, in respect of which they have decided on local tax incentives based on findings of contamination of the territories. – said Deputy Minister of Economy Ihor Bezkaravainyi.
