SSU detained traitor who was preparing "offensive" bridgehead for occupants in southern Dnipropetrovsk region

The security service detained an FSB agent who was preparing a new series of Russian attacks on the Nikopol district of the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Among the main targets of the enemy were the firing positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces artillery, protecting the coast and river area of the front-line community.

To identify the combat locations of Ukrainian troops, the occupiers brought in their agent, a 57-year-old resident of a local village.

On instructions from the Russian special service, the defendant walked daily around the coastal area of the community, where he tried to identify the bases of the Defence Forces.

If such geolocations were established, he “reported” to the FSB in the messenger, observing secrecy measures - he deleted all messages after each communication session.

According to available data, the occupiers planned to attack these locations using cannon and rocket artillery, which is located in the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhzhya region.

Thus, the Russians tried to take fire control over the territory near the Kakhovka reservoir in the Nikopol agglomeration area.

The SSU counterintelligence exposed these enemy plans in advance and caught his agent red-handed when he was conducting additional reconnaissance near a potential target.

The Security Service also took comprehensive measures to ensure the security of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ positions.

During the searches, mobile phones were confiscated from the detainee, which he used to communicate with the FSB.

Also found on the traitor’s premises was a bank card on which he received a monetary “reward” from the Russian intelligence service.

Based on the collected evidence, Security Service investigators informed the detainee of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state betrayal committed under martial law).

The attacker is currently in custody. He faces life imprisonment.

The special operation was carried out by SSU officers in the Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural leadership of the regional prosecutor’s office.
