Large-scale fire continues near Mykolaiv: there is a threat of explosions

A large-scale landscape fire is raging near Mykolaiv. The fire is currently covering about 30 hectares and can be seen in the city. According to rescuers, efforts to extinguish the fire are hampered by several reasons.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, there are difficulties with the access of special equipment to the burning sites. Rescuers also believe that there are explosive objects in the area where the fire is raging. Accordingly, the State Emergency Service warned about the threat of detonation.

“There is a fire in an open area, an estimated area of 30 hectares. It is difficult for rescuers to extinguish the fire due to the lack of equipment access to the fires and high vegetation. And most importantly, the territory is potentially contaminated with explosive objects,” the department noted.

At the same time, the State Emergency Service emphasized that the fire does not threaten the housing sector.

Rescuers showed how they fought the fire during the day.

In turn, local residents are now telling how “the huge area of the field behind Shyroka Balka glows.” However, local residents did not hear the detonation.

From time to time, fire trucks approach the burning field. The State Emergency Service in the Mykolaiv region claims that grass and bushes are burning in the open area; several rescuers are working at the scene of the fire.

The causes of the fire are still unknown.
