Ukraine plans to abolish the subsistence minimum. The Cabinet of Ministers is preparing a replacement.
This was stated by the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Oksana Zholnovych on the air of the national telethon.
The subsistence minimum in Ukraine is planned to be replaced by a special social payment. Its size will be determined individually. The amount will be affected by the composition of the family.
"We want to move away from the subsistence minimum. Fines, official salaries, etc. are tied to this. It is very important for us to separate this," Zholnovych explained.
The Minister clarified that the new basic payment will be provided in two cases:
due to loss of ability to work; to help in the absence of the necessary financial support, or, in other words, due to poverty.According to her, the current subsistence minimum does not correspond to reality, since its size is too small. In addition, the minister noted that the introduction of a special social payment will have a positive effect on the entire social system and the economy.
