A soldier from the 56th brigade, Serhiy Hnezdilov, announced on Facebook that he is going AWOL — that is, leaving without permission.
«Starting today, I am going AWOL until clear service terms are established or until my 25th birthday, having five years of impeccable service behind me», - he wrote.
He demands that the authorities implement demobilization for those who have been in the army for a long time.
«Without clear service terms and a definite right to demobilization, returning to peaceful rear areas and listening to society, a volunteer begins to realize that serfdom has not been abolished, and he has been made guilty and responsible», - Hnezdilov notes.
According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are experiencing a «migration to the rear, to relative safety». He believes that the large-scale nature of draft evasion is due to the lack of clear service terms.
Furthermore, he does not understand why frontline fighters are not being rotated, while there are "five million conscripts" in the country.
