BAE System plans to service and manufacture the M777 in Ukraine

At present, the company is assessing Ukrainian industry facilities that could serve as a base for the repair and production of artillery systems.

The international armament and military equipment manufacturing company BAE Systems intends to start the repair, and then production, of M777 towed artillery systems in Ukraine. This was announced by the general director of the company’s Ukrainian division, Kristian Siar, at the International Defence Forum, reports "Militarniy".

Siar emphasized that cooperation with Ukrainian enterprises will cover not only weapon repairs but also their technical maintenance, spare parts supply, and staff training. Cooperation with one of the Ukrainian companies has already begun.

"We are looking to the future and participating in the restoration of the local industrial base even after victory. Or even under conditions where hostilities continue, we strive to develop the potential and capabilities of some specific Ukrainian companies," he noted.

Meanwhile, the BAE Systems team is evaluating Ukrainian industry facilities that could become the base for the repair and production of artillery systems. There is no information yet about the timeframe for starting equipment repair and production. For security reasons, the names of the Ukrainian companies that will cooperate with BAE Systems are also not disclosed.

Kristian Siar noted that this project is multi-stage and starts with repairing existing equipment, which will form the basis for further expansion of cooperation up to local production.
