The defence plant "Artem" is suspected of embezzling 8.3 million dollars

The Kyiv defence plant "Artem," which periodically suffers from missile attacks, is accused of embezzling $8.3 million during the production of artillery shells.

The prosecution reports that the case will soon be considered in court on its merits.

The investigation claims that in 2017, a foreign businessman conspired with Ukrainian officials, including a deputy minister, to secure a contract for a fictitious American company to purchase equipment for the production of shell bodies of calibers 152/155 mm.

The company received an advance payment amounting to half of the contract sum, $8.3 million, and immediately transferred it to the accounts of other companies. These funds were spent, and Ukraine never received the shells.
