After the scandal, the Ministry of Culture dismissed the acting head of the Center for Strategic Communications, Serhiy Bykov

Serhiy Bykov was dismissed from the position of acting head of the Center for Strategic Communications. He was appointed to this position for a technical purpose.

This became known from a statement by the Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, Mykola Tochytskyi.

It is worth noting that yesterday, December 6, the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications renamed the "Scientific Center for Tourism Development" to the "Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security" and appointed political consultant Serhiy Bykov as acting director.

Against this backdrop, a scandal erupted online. According to media reports, after the Revolution of Dignity, Bykov made statements in favor of Viktor Medvedchuk, a close associate of the Russian dictator, who was exchanged for prisoners of war from "Azovstal" in 2022, and openly supported the state traitor.

In particular, some media claim that instead of cooperating with the EU and NATO, Bykov proposed implementing Medvedchuk’s "peace plan."

It is worth noting that Bykov himself denied the accusations of supporting Viktor Medvedchuk and a pro-Russian position. He claimed that in cooperation with the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defence Council and stakeholders, he contributed to forming a database of Russian agents of hybrid influence in sports.

However, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko, denied Bykov’s involvement in this project in a comment to the media.
