The United States will soon provide a total of more than $440 million to support the agricultural sector, reconstruction, and economic activity in Ukraine.
This was announced by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Richard Verma during a speech at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington.
Details: In his speech dedicated to U.S. assistance in Ukraine’s recovery, Verma announced four initiatives for further support of the Ukrainian economy in cooperation with Congress.
Firstly, the U.S. will allocate an additional $74.7 million to support the export-oriented agricultural sector, "so that Ukrainian farmers and processors can play a greater role in rebuilding Ukraine’s economy."
Moreover, the United States will provide over $223 million for additional support "for the reconstruction of Ukraine’s transportation system, infrastructure, and logistics."
These funds will be used for the modernization of Ukraine’s border crossing points with EU countries, ports on the Black Sea and the Danube, the renewal of railway sections in border regions, and the improvement of Ukraine’s capabilities to export goods to the European Union.
Additionally, according to the deputy secretary, the U.S. will allocate $35 million to the Ukraine Recovery Trust Fund, which will facilitate cooperation between the public and private sectors in the reconstruction process.
Finally, the United States will provide over $105 million for "training and equipping Ukrainians for future jobs in reconstruction and industry," announced Verma.
