The Verkhovna Rada has amended Article 111 of the Penal Enforcement Code, allowing prisoners to leave places of confinement in the event of a serious illness or death of close relatives.
Convicts in minimum-security colonies will be able to leave independently for up to 7 days. Other convicts will be granted this opportunity for only 1 day and under escort.
