More than 7,000 military personnel voluntarily returned to service after leaving a military unit unauthorized

This was reported by the SBI.

"After the adoption of the law (which allows servicemen who committed an AWOL for the first time to return to the ranks and avoid criminal liability, - Ed.), more than 7,000 soldiers who had deserted their units returned to the army," the statement said.

The department also emphasized that 4,396 of those returned have already officially resumed military service.
