Border guards detained a group of people who were attempting to swim across the Tysa river

The border guards of the Mukachevo detachment detained a group of men who attempted to swim across the Tysa. Three citizens needed assistance because their hands were cut while overcoming the coil fence.

This was reported on the website of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and in the Telegram channel. For such an adventure, each of the men paid the coordinators $2500 as an advance.

"Dirty, bloody, but alive: four violators tried to swim across the Tysa. The border guards detained the men who planned to illegally cross the border to Hungary. Three of them needed help because they cut their hands while overcoming the coil fence. Residents of Cherkasy believed the ferrymen that ’the Tysa is shallow and safe’ and paid them $2500 each in advance," the report states.

It is known that the perpetrators planned to inform their clients of the final cost of their services only after successfully crossing the water body.

In order to carry out their offense, they chose the dark time of the day, hoping to remain unnoticed by the border patrols. They did not even consider the danger of crossing an unfamiliar body of water at night, especially in winter, which posed a threat to life and health.

Four individuals were detected using remote border monitoring tools with Hungary. The response group from the "Vylok" border detachment apprehended them immediately after they overcame the barrier fence.

All of them are residents of Cherkasy. According to them, they planned to enter the Tysa river following the instructions of the ferrymen who assured them that the water in the river is shallow and completely safe. Two other men - a resident of Zakarpattia and a resident of Kherson - independently developed a route for illegal crossing of the Ukrainian border to Romania via the Tysa river.

They attempted to execute their plan in the area under the responsibility of the "Velykyi Bychkov" border service department. The border patrol detained the violators 30 meters from the border.

Protocols for administrative offenses, as provided by Art. 204-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses "Illegal crossing or attempt to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine," were drawn up for the detainees. The cases have been referred to court.
