Fierce battles continue in Chasiv Yar for the last high-rise buildings on the western outskirts of the city, reports Ukrainian military journalist Bohdan Myroshnikov on his Telegram channel.
According to him, at the moment, three blocks are under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. In one of them, intense clashes are ongoing, with the frontline shifting practically by the minute. Myroshnikov notes that no building falls to the enemy without a fight.
However, there are serious problems. Most buildings in this part of the city are Khrushchyovkas, which are relatively easy to destroy with tanks and artillery. More modern panel buildings from the 80s and 90s prove to be more resilient, but they are significantly fewer.
Another threat is that Russian forces from the Pivnichnyi district are gradually advancing towards a pond located behind the Ukrainian units defending the western high-rise buildings. The railway station is almost completely lost.
«Fighting continues at various points in the city, and it’s too early to talk about the end of the confrontation,» emphasizes Myroshnikov. He reminds that Chasiv Yar is an elongated city, with its southern edge running along the Kostyantynivka – Bakhmut highway.
At this time, the enemy controls just under half of the city, but as the journalist notes, almost all the main development is concentrated in the northern and eastern parts of Chasiv Yar, which are already occupied.
