UNESCO condemned the Russian missile strike on the historic center of Odesa

Last night, January 31, the Russian Federation carried out a missile strike on the historical center of Odesa, causing damage to cultural buildings. UNESCO has already responded and condemned the shelling by the Russians.

This became known from the UNESCO Ukraine Facebook page.

"UNESCO condemns the missile shelling of the World Heritage site, the historical center of Odesa last night, which resulted in serious damage to at least two cultural buildings that are protected under UNESCO Conventions," the statement said.

The published post mentions that these repeated attacks must be stopped and that it is important to adhere to international law.

"Our team is already working on promptly documenting the damage caused and is identifying priority response measures in collaboration with Ukrainian authorities," the Facebook post adds.

It was also reported that UNESCO will send a mission in the near future.
