A special contract for conscripts aged 18 to 24 will offer a range of benefits. These will pertain to education, salary, and housing provision.
This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with Reuters.
"Combat brigades, experienced brigades known for their high level of training and professionalism, and most importantly, low casualty rates, because they know how to fight. They, together with the Ministry of Defence, developed this type of contract for young people aged 18-24," he noted.
The President emphasized that "this is not mobilization; it is a contractual offer" that provides a special contract because conscripts in this category are not of mobilization age.
"There are many preferences in this contract. There is very high monetary support, details will be disclosed in the coming days, and it includes provisions for free education and interest-free housing loans. That is, for a young person, this is a full package. I know this contract is designed for one year. And it will be presented," Zelenskyy listed the benefits.
He added that the contract is fully ready, especially concerning the terms — everything is prepared.
"The issue lies in the technical steps. They depend on the Cabinet of Ministers. Today is the first step. And the first step is with the Cabinet. The second step is with the parliament," the head of state emphasized.
At the same time, the President refused to name the expected number of young Ukrainians planned to be involved in the military under this program. He noted that results could be discussed in a few months.
