The teachers’ bonus will be doubled starting from September 1.
This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Andriy Stashkiv, during a television broadcast.
"From September 1, 2025, the bonus will be doubled and will amount to 2600 hryvnias. Accordingly, the teacher will receive at least 2000 hryvnias in hand. If a teacher works more than one rate, this bonus will be increased proportionally," said Stashkiv.
He added that, on average, the salary of a teacher in Ukraine is 13 thousand hryvnias. According to Stashkiv, this is not enough.
"We would like teachers to receive a decent salary. This is also provided for in the law on education, where the minimum official salary is three minimum wages. But it is important to understand that the state budget of Ukraine is currently being formed under very difficult conditions. Significant expenditures are directed to the military sphere. And this year, despite the reduction in the number of schools and students, the same amount is allocated in the state budget for teachers’ salaries. Additionally, 12 billion hryvnias were found for this payment, and it is provided for this year," noted Stashkiv.
He pointed out that since January 1, teachers have already been receiving bonuses.
"The procedure for paying this bonus provides that a minimum of 1300 hryvnias will be accrued, meaning the teacher will receive 1000 hryvnias in hand. This does not depend on the workload. But if a teacher works more than one rate, of course, this bonus will increase proportionally. For example, if a teacher works at 1.5 rates, they will receive 1500 hryvnias in hand," explained Stashkiv.
He added that the funds for the first half of the year, that is, until the end of the academic year, are already distributed and available in territorial communities. In September, an additional redistribution of financial resources for the communities will be carried out so that teachers can receive 2000 hryvnias bonuses starting from September 1.
"The only thing we need to analyze is the number of teachers who will work from September 1. Therefore, we have distributed only until June, and after the end of the academic year, we will distribute the remaining amount to the territorial communities," noted Stashkiv.
