In the Sumy region, mandatory evacuation has been announced for eight settlements in the Yunakivka and Myropillya communities. The reason for this is the increased activity of sabotage groups of Russian troops near the border, as well as attacks with GABs and FPV drones.
This decision was made at a meeting of the Sumy Defence Council on Thursday, March 13.
This was reported by the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Artyukh, on the Facebook platform.
He stated that in the near future, it will be necessary to evacuate 543 people from these communities, including 20 children.
"Due to the worsening operational situation in the region, constant shelling from the Russian Federation, and in order to preserve the lives of the region’s civilian population, a decision was made at the Defence Council meeting today to conduct a mandatory evacuation of the population from 8 settlements of the Yunakivka and Myropillya territorial communities in the Sumy district," he reported.
The head of the regional administration emphasized that currently the only way to protect the peaceful population on the border with the aggressor state from constant shelling and DRG activity is evacuation.
"Regarding the enemy’s sabotage groups, which are operating practically along the entire length of the contact line, from the Shostka district to the settlements of the Okhtyrka district. Their actions have intensified, and now the Russian army has deployed significant reserves. The intensity of shelling in the border zone will be quite high. So, once again, I urge people to leave these border settlements and communities," the official said.
Artyukh also confirmed that the situation on the Sumy region’s border with Russia is tense but under control. The units of the Russian occupation forces have not crossed the border and have not captured any settlements in the region.
