The Head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, reacted emotionally to public statements that appeared after the Russian missile strike on Sumy.
In his post, he noted that he is upset when "some try to gain publicity from the tragedy and the war crime of the Russians on social networks."
Although Yermak did not mention specific names, his words were likely directed at the Member of Parliament Maryana Bezuhla. She previously stated that the Russians allegedly struck a gathering place of Ukrainian military personnel who had assembled for an award ceremony. Her comment sparked a wave of criticism among the military, volunteers, and local officials.
Amid this, tensions also escalated in the regional government. The mayor of Konotop, Artem Semenikhin, publicly called for the resignation of the head of the Sumy Regional State Administration, Volodymyr Artyukh, and the head of the regional SSU office. He accused them of negligence and unwillingness to respond to threats from the enemy.
"This tragedy should have been a reason to mobilize efforts, not to sort out relations and engage in populism," concluded one of the local volunteers.
The situation in the Sumy region remains tense — the investigation into the circumstances of the strike, which led to fatalities and significant destruction, continues in the region.
