Purchases via TEMU may cost Ukrainians stolen money and data — media

More and more Ukrainians are complaining about cases of money theft from bank cards after placing orders through the popular marketplace TEMU.

This is reported by Ukrainian media, citing user complaints and expert assessments.

According to the victims, fraudulent withdrawals began after installing the TEMU mobile application or after making purchases with it. In some cases, fraudsters gained access to payment information even despite the use of secure payment services.

Cybersecurity experts advise Ukrainians to refrain from installing the application on smartphones, as it may have risky access to personal data, including contacts, geolocation, and banking information.

Experts’ recommendations:

if you are already using TEMU — place orders exclusively through the official website, do not enter card details directly on the platform — it is better to use virtual cards or intermediary services with additional protection.
