Sybiha: Russia’s actions after midnight will show whether Moscow truly wants peace

Russia ignores Ukraine’s request to extend the "ceasefire" announced by Putin yesterday. Therefore, Russia’s actions after midnight will show Moscow’s true attitude towards the peace proposal.

This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiha, according to his post on the social network X.

"Russia’s actions after midnight, tomorrow, and throughout the week will show the true attitude of Russia towards the US peace efforts and the proposal for a 30-day full ceasefire. They will demonstrate whether Russia is serious about peace, or if yesterday’s statements by Putin were just manipulations," the statement reads.

Sybiha added that Ukraine has still not received a response from Moscow regarding the proposal to extend the ceasefire regime to 30 days.

"The main issue is that yesterday Ukraine proposed to extend the ceasefire regime after midnight. We are ready for 30 days of complete silence if Russia is equally prepared for this. But we have yet to hear a response from Moscow," the Minister of Foreign Affairs noted.

He also emphasized that despite a decrease in combat activity on the front, Russians do not cease attacking Ukrainian positions. Therefore, Ukraine reacts accordingly.

"Despite some decrease in combat activity yesterday and today, Russian forces continue to attack Ukrainian positions. Ukraine reacts accordingly and responsibly, and we respond with fire where it arises, and maintain silence where it prevails," emphasized Sybiha.
