President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans a trip to Rome to attend the farewell ceremony for Pope Francis.
This is reported by Ukrainian media, citing sources in the President’s Office.
Earlier it became known that former US President Donald Trump also plans to come to the funeral. However, it is currently unknown whether a bilateral meeting between him and Zelenskyy will take place during the events in the Vatican.
According to the Apostolic Constitution Universi Dominici Gregis, the funeral of the Pope is to take place between the fourth and sixth days after his death. Therefore, the ceremony may take place from Friday, April 25, to Sunday, April 27.
A large number of world leaders, including heads of state and government, are expected to attend the ceremony, highlighting the global significance of Francis’ figure for the modern world.
