Ukraine will receive decommissioned F-16s from a U.S. base — for parts only

The USA is transferring decommissioned and completely inoperative F-16 fighters to Ukraine, which will be used exclusively as parts donors.

This was reported by The War Zone, citing a representative of the US Air Force.

The aircraft in question are stored at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, also known as the "boneyard."

As clarified by the Pentagon, these F-16s have long been retired, lack key components — such as engines and radars — and cannot be restored for flight. The transfer of such aircraft is intended to support the maintenance and equipping of those F-16s that will be arriving in Ukraine from European countries.
