President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Pope Leo XIV will hold a private meeting on Sunday, May 18. This will be their first official meeting.
This was reported with reference to a comment by the President’s spokesperson, Serhiy Nikiforov, for journalists.
According to him, the audience with the President and the First Lady at Pope Leo XIV’s will take place today after the official mass.
Earlier, Sky News reported that the Pope would have a private meeting with Zelenskyy this afternoon.
On Monday, May 12, the Pope had already spoken with Zelenskyy over the phone. The President of Ukraine became the first foreign leader to speak with the new pontiff.
