Expert: Volunteer pilots may accidentally be shot down by Ukrainian air defences, mistaking them for "Shaheds"

Volunteer pilots who are sent to shoot down "Shaheds" could be shot down by Ukrainian ground fire teams, who might mistake them for "Shaheds."

This opinion was expressed by drone and communications expert Serhiy Beskrestnov ("Flash").

He commented on the authorities’ idea to involve volunteers in light aircraft to combat Russian drones in this way.

"At night, when there is a confrontation between mobile fire teams and sports aircraft against ’Shaheds,’ air defence will undoubtedly prevail, shooting down both. You will see. I hope they (the pilots — Ed.) will at least be used during the day," Beskrestnov wrote.
