President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a working meeting with Defence Minister Rustem Umyerov. According to the head of state, important decisions were made regarding the production of drones and reorganization in the defense sector.
The head of state announced this in his Telegram channel on July 12. One of the key issues of the meeting was the drone program.
Zelenskyy instructed the Ministry of Defence to contract all available volumes of priority types of drones. Additionally, Ukraine is separately working with European partners to attract additional funding.
"This year, we must reach significantly higher production and supply figures of drones to the troops than were planned," the president noted.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine is also preparing "non-standard steps" to expand the geography of defense support.
The second part of the meeting was dedicated to changes in state institutions and external cooperation. Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of improving relations with the United States, and specific decisions in defense management are planned for this purpose.
"Ukraine needs more positive dynamics in relations with the United States and simultaneously needs new steps in managing the defense sphere of our state. The relevant decisions will be announced soon," the head of state said.
