The CCD has warned that Russia is preparing new fakes about the prisoner exchange

The terrorist country is planning new fake stories regarding the exchange of prisoners. This is done, among other things, to once again discredit Ukraine.

Such a warning was released by the Center for Countering Disinformation. It is noted that the Center possesses information from the Defence Forces of Ukraine about the intentions of the Russians to continue the information campaign to discredit the exchange processes.

"Previously, the Center refuted the fake news that Ukraine allegedly refuses to retrieve its citizens from the "Verkhniy Lars" checkpoint. Russian propagandists spread the thesis that Kyiv supposedly does not retrieve its own citizens from neutral territory, including 90 prisoners of war and former inmates. In reality, this information did not correspond to the truth," the statement says.

The CCD emphasizes that the enemy is further preparing new disinformation dumps on the topic, which may contain calls and lies about claims that the Ukrainian side allegedly refuses to conduct exchanges on the "all for all" principle, doing so only with "selected" prisoners.

"By spreading such fakes, the Russian Federation aims to manipulate the exchange process and also shift the responsibility for the lack of transparency in conducting the process," the statement reads.

The CCD underscores that the Russians are trying to discredit the government and create the impression that Ukraine "does not want" to return its people. However, Ukraine consistently works on bringing each of its citizens back from captivity.

"Trust only verified sources of information," the CCD concludes.

Let us recall that the statement by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that Russia is supposedly "fighting alone against the entire West" is a manipulation, as Moscow has officially acknowledged North Korea’s participation in the war. Moscow is trying to create an image of an enemy in Europe, justify Russian aggression, and reduce the level of support for Ukraine.
