Uklon is preparing to launch robotaxi in Ukraine

As of 2025, the market for AI-based robotic taxis is estimated at nearly $3 billion, with its potential exceeding 15-fold growth over the next five years. Driverless taxis are already operating in several countries, including the USA and China. In Ukraine, limited use of autonomous vehicle technologies may emerge within the next few years.

This was stated by Uklon CEO Serhiy Hryshkov in a comment to Delo.ua.

According to Hryshkov, Uklon plans to explore collaboration models with AV companies in the near future—these are companies engaged in the development and implementation of autonomous vehicles (AV, from English Autonomous Vehicles). He adds that the issue of launching such transport will become much more relevant in 3-5 years.

"In Ukraine, it is necessary to test the AV system, understand the scale of investments and capital expenditures in urban road infrastructure, and address legislative regulation. For example, for proper operation, the quality of roads and uniform road markings must be sufficiently good everywhere,"—emphasizes Serhiy Hryshkov.

He also clarifies that appropriate legislation regulating the legal norms for the use of autonomous vehicles must be adopted (following the example of legislation in the USA and EU). According to him, there are certain standards and requirements for the level of vehicle autonomy based on the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) scale—this is an international standard that defines the degree of driver involvement in vehicle control.

"I see autonomous vehicles as a niche with good potential, but in the coming years in Ukraine, their use is possible under limited conditions. For example, in military logistics, on specific closed routes with good markings, and so on,"—concludes the CEO of Uklon.
