President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin does not plan to end the war. Otherwise, he would not have asked Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to organize an "energy blockade" against Ukraine.
Zelenskyy said this during a press conference with Fico in Uzhhorod.
Zelenskyy noted that he did not discuss the issue of an energy blockade with Fico. However, there were signals in the media indicating that Putin demanded such actions from Slovakia.
"By the way, if a person wants to end the war, they probably wouldn’t ask Ukraine’s neighbors to impose an energy blockade. Because this is about his desire to attack our energy system," the president explained.
Zelenskyy added that Putin understands Ukraine is protecting its energy system, doing so successfully, and importing electricity from Europe. Putin wants to block this process, but it is simply impossible to do so.
"Firstly, we are defending ourselves; he constantly wants to impose a blockade, but we have the right to import and are grateful to Slovakia. I think the most terrible thing is that they raised this issue. And I believe that’s the problem. We are not putting enough pressure on Russia to make them think about ending the war," the president concluded.
