In Lviv region, a man suspected of smuggling conscripts abroad has been exposed.
As reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, a 41-year-old resident of Ternopil region was found to be involved in organizing the scheme. Using personal connections, he offered those willing to leave Ukraine the opportunity to do so with the help of forged documents. The cost of such a "service" was 18,500 US dollars per person.
Law enforcement officers documented the transfer of the first part of the funds – 15,000 US dollars. After that, the organizer attempted to flee and even tried to cross the border at the "Shehyni" checkpoint, but border guards detained him.
The man was informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine «Illegal smuggling of persons across the state border of Ukraine».
He faces from 7 to 9 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property and a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in specified activities for up to three years.
