A cardiologist from TRC is suspected of demanding 500 dollars for a "necessary" diagnosis


In the Ternopil region, the head of the military medical commission of one of the district TRCs was detained. He is accused of demanding a bribe for a "necessary" diagnosis.

This was reported by the press service of the National Police in the Ternopil region.

According to the investigation, a cardiologist who heads the ad-hoc permanent military medical commission of the district TRC demanded an illegal benefit from a serviceman for entering a fictitious diagnosis of a severe cardiac disease in the medical documentation.

"The patient was undergoing inpatient treatment, and the specified medical discharge would give him the right to register a disability and a deferment from military service in the future," the police said.

As specified by the department, the amount of illegal benefit ranged from 500 to 1,000 dollars. Law enforcement officers detained the suspect immediately after receiving a $500 bribe.

The doctor was informed of suspicion under part 4 of article 368-4 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The sanction of the article provides for 4 to 8 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, as well as confiscation of property.
