The issue with Tomahawk is not entirely resolved, - Zelenskyy

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, confirmed that he did not receive the "green light" from Trump regarding Tomahawk missiles, but he says the issue is not completely closed.

He stated this while speaking to the press after the meeting.

Zelenskyy confirmed that he and Trump "talked about long-range systems," but noted that he would not like to make any assertions.

"We decided not to talk about this at the moment. The United States would not want escalation, so any potential questions on this topic will remain unanswered," – said Zelenskyy.

Later during the briefing, he addressed the matter again and confirmed that Tomahawks were discussed and Ukraine had been refused for the time being.

"President Trump noted that we must understand that we also need them. This is the position of the American side at the moment, but no one has ruled out this topic for negotiation. We have to work on this," – said the President of Ukraine.

He also expressed the opinion that Moscow is concerned about the prospect of Ukraine acquiring such capabilities, combined with what Ukraine already has, and is working to prevent this from happening.

"They understand what we can do with this. That is why they are taking various steps and sending positive messages - of course, not to the Ukrainian side. And they are doing this out of fear," – Zelenskyy remarked.

When asked if he remains optimistic about Ukraine’s chances of obtaining Tomahawks, the President responded that he is "a realist" on the matter.
