President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed diplomats to prepare the nearest meeting of the Coalition of the Willing to coordinate European positions and discuss security guarantees.
This was reported by the head of state in a video address on Sunday, October 19.
"I have instructed our diplomats - and have already discussed this with many leaders - to prepare a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in the near future. We need strong common positions in Europe. And it will happen. Thank you to everyone who is with us, who supports Ukraine!".
The President has not yet specified the approximate date of the meeting.
Earlier, Zelenskyy held a phone conversation with the main representatives of the Coalition of the Willing, including leaders from Finland, Norway, the United Kingdom, and Italy.
"I held a joint phone conversation with a group of European leaders, key representatives of the Coalition of the Willing. Also with Ursula von der Leyen, the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, also participated, the Prime Minister of Norway, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer. And I would like to express my gratitude to the Prime Minister of Italy, who was also there, and the NATO Secretary-General joined the conversation, as well as the Prime Minister of Poland," noted the head of state during a briefing in Washington after a meeting with US President Donald Trump.
The President also noted that discussions with European partners regarding the expansion of the PURL program and increasing purchases of American weapons are ongoing.
"In particular, we are talking about air defence and some of our long-range capabilities. Next week we will discuss with partners in Europe new contributions to the PURL program. We are also preparing very important agreements with some countries regarding weapons and defense technologies," he emphasized.
