Deputy Head of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, Olena Tamozhnya, prior to this appointment in the summer of 2025, held the position of prosecutor at the Bucha District Prosecutor’s Office.
In 2020, Tamozhnya, who at that time was a prosecutor in the department supporting the activities of the head of the regional prosecutor’s office in Kyiv region, failed the attestation of active prosecutors of regional prosecutor’s offices.
The attestation of prosecutors of regional prosecutor’s offices began on March 3, 2020, in accordance with Order No. 221 dated October 3, 2019, issued by the then Prosecutor General Ruslan Ryaboshapka. It consisted of three stages of evaluation: testing on knowledge and ability to apply legislation, testing on general abilities and skills, and an interview with a practical task and an integrity check.
Prosecutor Tamozhnya did not pass the evaluation specifically based on the results of the interview, which included an assessment of integrity.
Journalists suggested that the likely reason for failing the attestation could be the discrepancy between the prosecutor’s expenses and income, as well as those of her family members, since the value of the Tamozhnya family’s real estate and other assets exceeded their annual income. In fact, a similar situation is observed now, but more on that later.
Ultimately, Prosecutor Olena Tamozhnya was removed from her position, but she managed to be reinstated through the court. Moreover, by court decision, she is also receiving compensatory payments from the Office of the Prosecutor General for her dismissal.
Not only Tamozhnya herself is of interest, but also her husband...
