In Kyiv, two men were detained for growing and selling hemp and cannabis — that is, the active substance of this plant. They operated in the Dnipro district of the capital, but cultivated the narcotic raw material in an ecologically clean area in Poltava region. The amount of seized narcotic substances — both semi-finished products and ready-for-sale products — is staggering.
The exposure of the two drug traffickers was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
Law enforcement officials stated that 50 bags of hemp and an additional 5 kg of cannabis were confiscated from the offenders. The violators turned out to be two men aged 49 and 42.
"In the Poltava region, they rented a private house where they grew cannabis, then dried and prepared it for sale. During the search, fifty bags of cannabis plants and five kilograms of the finished product were found," — the prosecutor’s office noted.
Both "farmers" were detained, and the court ordered their pretrial detention. They have already been notified of suspicion for growing and selling cannabis. The penalty under the relevant article provides for imprisonment for up to 12 years with confiscation of property.
